Separation Membranes, Monolith and Adsorbent Testing Reactors
Membrane technology provides a unique way to selectively remove gas and/or liquid components with little or no energy requirement for the separation. The significantly lower OPEX-costs required for implementing molecular sieve-based continuous separation membranes as opposed to cryogenic or pressure swing separations means that those companies with the ability to implement this technology will have a significant strategic advantage compared to competitors. ILS can provide both membrane testing reactors as well as membrane synthesis reactors for either static or continuous-membrane synthesis.
Membrane reactors make possible the continuous-removal of reaction products and by-products, making it possible to shift the reaction to far higher conversion levels with high selectivities than would be possible with fixed-bed type reactors. ILS is particularly adept at designing high-temperature membrane reactors for gas/vapour-phase reactions.
Monolith reactors for multiphase reactions like Fischer-Tropsch synthesis provide a unique way to enhance mass-transfer and minimize or completely eliminate hot-spot formation.
